Abstract
The authors have observed clinically with analysis on various stomach diseases with gastrofiberscopy on 1,000 cases who had paid visits to the department of Internal Medicine, Busan National University Hospital since 1968. In a gastrofiberscopic examination of 1,000 cases, the result was as follows.
1) The most frequent disease of stomach was chronic gastritis(66.8%) which was followed by benign gastric ulcer (16.4%) etc. in incidence.
2) The most frequent type of chronic gastritis was superficial gastritis(48.9), and the next was erosive gastritis (23.4%).
3) In 164 cases of benign gastric ulcer, male to female ratio was 2 : 1 and the highest number was in 4th decade (31.1%). The endoscopic examination revealed that incidence of ingle ulcer(53.7%) was more frequent than that of multiple ulcer and the major complication of gastric ulcer was bleeding (9.2%). The most frequent occurrence site was antrum(43.3%).
4) In 81 cases of gastric cancer, male to female ratio was 2 : 1 and the occurrence of gastric cancer increased progressively after 4th decade. The most frequent type of gastric cancer type III in Borrmann¢¥s classification, and the most frequent occurrence site was antrum(48.8%).
5) The rate of same finding o the both examinations; gastrofiberscopic and U.G.I. examination, was 32.8% in gastritis, 75.0% in gastric ulcer, and 59.4% in cancer and 55.2% was gastrofiberscopically positive among the patients with negative finding on U.G.I. especially in chronic gastritis. Judged by the fact presented by above it is concluded that both X-ray and gastrofiberscopic examination will give for correct diagnosis of stomach disease.
